Sulieman Benn
Sulieman Benn’s bowling action
One of the commentators during the last Test – we forget who – said that Sulieman Benn had a good bowling action.
Now we can only presume that he meant it was solid and reliable or maybe ‘funny’.
Because it isn’t a good bowling action. He looks like a horse doing a cartwheel.

“All right Mrs Benn. Is your Sulieman playing out today?”
That passes muster. Well done that man’s parents. We’ll go so far as to say it’s a magnificent name. See what we’ve done there?
6ft7in left-arm spinners don’t grow on trees. They ARE trees. It would be good if the TV cameras were a bit higher up when Sulieman Benn bowls, because he has a tendency to obscure the batsman with his gangling cack-handed follow-through.
At the time of publishing, Sulieman Benn had taken 1-29 off 22 overs on the first day of a Test. That’s some stingy bowling from the enormo-spinner.
