Kevin Pietersen’s resignation

Bowled on 7th January, 2009 at 21:06 by King Cricket

Kevin Pietersen did not resign this morning. He wants to be very clear on that, okay? He did NOT resign this morning.

He resigned this afternoon.

From his resignation statement:

“Contrary to media speculation today, I wish to make it very clear that I did not resign as captain of the England cricket team this morning.”

Got it. Clear. You resigned this afternoon.

We heartily recommend WG Grace Ate My Pedalo by Alan Tyers

I can’t wait for the nomination of the one day captain, my vote goes to Chris Lewis and his ’special’ tins of fruit. lack of motivation would be a thing of the past.

Thank you! Somebody needed to point that out!

Come to think of it — all this for someone who couldn’t keep his pants on in the field — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqgbnQAvMBk

It would have been a disgrace and a shambles had KP resigned yesterday morning.

But his measured and considered resignation yesterday afternoon was a strategic masterstroke which virtually guarantees that England will regain the Ashes this summer.

Many thanks to you, KC, for helping to clarify matters.

But what was the exact time he resigned? Was it before or after 3-oclock-cuppa-tea-time?

Did anyone see the Sky interview with Nasser Hussein at his castle? It was carried out in a Hammer Horror style and scared the living shit out of me.

the really odd thing is this:

Contrary to media speculation today, I wish to make it very clear that I did not resign as captain of the England cricket team this morning.

However, in light of recent communications with the ECB, and the unfortunate media stories and speculation that have subsequently appeared, I now consider that it would be extremely difficult for me to continue in my current position with the England cricket team.

Accordingly, I have as of this afternoon decided to stand down as England captain with immediate effect.

    To console Big Kev,

His wife thought a party with the rest of the Sugababes would go down well….

Kev said he enjoyed it, but was surprised as one of the Babes didn’t ‘Go Down’ as well as he expected.

Apparently KP’s resignation can be understood by cultural theory. Bear with me – I found this entertaining! http://www.matthewtaylorsblog.com/public-policy/kevin-pietersen-the-cultural-theory-explanation/

Ed, I certainly noticed the weird echo. It must be a very large room. The looming paleness and booming voice were also impressive.

I don’t understand Andrew Strauss. He keeps saying, “We need to get back to playing cricket and start winning cricket matches.”

It’s not like anyone is expecting them to get back to playing cricket and start winning football matches, right?
