The video this image is taken from is the very definition of ‘intensity’.

Brace yourselves for some electrifying cricket before clicking the link.

DON'T BE LIKE GATT!

Mike Gatting wasn't receiving the King Cricket email when he dropped that ludicrously easy chance against India in 1993.

Coincidence?

Why risk it when it's so easy to sign up?

  1. Has Mrs Harmison been in touch telling you that she christened him Steven so using his full name is the least you can do?

    1. Not that we’re aware of, but there must have been SOME reason why we did that.

Maybe she sent a message through the cosmos.

    2. She sent a message through the cosmos.

Ace – we can add that to our list of phrases that can be used in all conceivable circumstances to add a sense of drama. We already had, “I have travelled through time and space to bring this message to you”, and, “So, it has come to this”. If we keep going at this rate, we can make all language into grandstanding statements entirely devoid of meaning, like Top Gear.

    1. That sounds ridiculous but that’s probably what happened. We daresay we listened to our thought, transcribed it as ‘Steven Ben’ first and then ‘corrected’ it with an ‘and’.

  2. Wow. And I mean wow. Superb video there. Not for the faint-hearted.

It reminds me of the good old days of the John Player (Sunday) league matches; only this vid is more exciting.

It also reminds me a bit of my exploits with Charley the Gent and Escamillo Escapillo in the Lord’s nets, although not quite as exciting as our exploits:

Sorry we have no video to prove how exciting our exploits can be, but the match report describes and the photographic evidence surely attests.

  3. My favourite thing about this is that the image is a link to the same image, at exactly the same size. Value addition!

    1. We pretty much always save photos the correct size because it’s considered good web practice. As for why it’s a link – no idea. Just seems to be the way WordPress does it these days.

    1. Well, God (KC) has created the universe and everything seems to be pretty decent – England have just won the Ashes, after all) and now in a convenient lull has a day off, but still there is much nitpicking & sniping (two or three spinners? Samit Fatel? Hales in tests?); meanwhile, shit is about to get serious (trip to UAE) and there is a chance we’ll look back on now as being as good as things got.

    2. You’ll have to decide which of hyphen and parentheses you’d rather use there…

And I appear to have conflated KC with the entire structure of English cricket and the board of selectors.
