Matthew Hayden Ashes reaction

Even now, people often ask us to write about Matthew Hayden. We never do.

Partly it’s that Hayden has retired and is therefore no longer ‘a target’. Mostly it’s just that we don’t like doing what people ask us to do.

With that in mind, we’d like to emphasise that our recent Cricinfo Ashes piece featuring Hayden was NOT written to please anyone.

That said, it’s gone down amazingly well in the comments section, with one person saying that Alan Tyers is merely 10 times better than us. Another, who really seems to like it, describes us as being ‘almost as good as Andrew Hughes’.

Mike Gatting wasn't receiving the King Cricket email when he dropped that ludicrously easy chance against India in 1993.

Why risk it when it's so easy to sign up?

  1. I don’t want you to take this the wrong way.

The comments section is always 10x funnier than the articles.

  2. Has Hayden just been trying to voice his favour the death penalty this whole time?

Can anyone confirm what he is actually saying is not this?

  3. People actually like Alan Tyler? I thought his work was an ongoing piece of performance art to see how unfunny you could be while still claiming to be a comedy writer.

    You learn something every day.

  4. I really like that Cricinfo piece, KC. Ignore your detractors.

I particularly like the comment from the person who doesn’t seem to know that Kim Hughes and Merv Hughes are different people.

I’m now trying to imagine Kim Hughes with a comedy moustache and Merv Hughes crying at a press conference.

I’ll go lie down and sleep it off. It’s way past my bedtime and the tiredness is showing in my posts!!
