Joe Denly earmarked for summat
Joe Denly has been picked in England’s Fewer Overs squads for the arse end of the summer.
This is pretty good. We get the impression England’s selectors have identified him as an attacking opening batsman who’s actually an opening batsman and not just a sloggy all-rounder who has a bit of a go at the job. You need that. You need to actually be a decent batsman if you’re facing Zaheer Khan or Shane Bond.

when are England going to be facing Bond?
Tuesday September 29th, assuming he’s fit, which is quite an assumption.
Everyone knows Shane Bond’s unofficial ban is over, right?
But they won’t be facing Zaheer……….
But surely Denly promises many things with his potential……….

I think Shane Bond should be assumed injured until proven fit, like Simon Jones.
England might end up facing Zaheer if England and India both qualify for the next round.
